FRC 2012 – A Hint about what’s coming…

We all know (or at least those of us that were here last year) that the new and improved cRIO from National Instruments is available this year (See the specs for the new cRIO here), but what other new sensors or technology will be introduced for this year’s game?? Normally we would have to wait until January to see what’s in the new Kit of Parts, but last Friday Bill gave us a rare peak at what’s coming…and all I can say is “Cool!” (Feel free to replace “cool” with what ever new fangled word you young folks use these days…rad, sweet, sick…whatever)

2011 FRC Season Begins!

Three FIRST Robotics Teams on the Eastern Shore joined over two thousand other FIRST Robotics Teams around the world for a coordinated kickoff event. The FIRST Robotics Competition Kickoff markes the beginning of an intense 6-week build period during which the students will work with professional teachers and mentors to design and build robots to play this year’s game, Logo Motion (TM).

Engineering Challenge Moved to May!

In response to popular demand – ESR has officially moved its annual Engineering Challenge to May. Much like the original event held in late 2009, the annual Engineering Challenge will be an exciting hands-on opportunity for students of all ages to design and build their solutions, or “gadgets,” to meet a specific challenge. Teams and individuals compete for fun, trophies, and other special awards provided by local sponsors during a one day demonstration of ingenuity, skill, and maybe a little luck!

As FRC teams around the world begin making preps for the new robotics season, teams on the Eastern Shore will be cooperating to test the 2011 FRC control system and software. The Beta testing effort is being led by Team 1908, the Shore Bots of Northampton County, VA. Team 1829 near Wallops Island, VA will also participate. Lessons learned during these beta tests will help ensure a more successful season for thousands of teams accross multiple countries.

Team 3389 makes Championships – 2010

Team 3389, “Strike Force” out of Salisbury, Maryland’s Career Technology Education Center located in Parkside High School advanced to the FIRST Robotics World Championship held in Atlanta, GA after earning the Rookie All Star Award in the Baltimore Regional. Fans in Salisbury and across the Eastern Shore and Maryland are waiting expectantly to see what the team will do next.
